About

Lock Haven University was founded in 1870 as a teacher’s college called the Central State Normal School, and we have a long history of excellence in training Pennsylvania’s educators.

LHU main campus is located on the west branch of the Susquehanna River in the scenic mountains of Pennsylvania.  Just minutes off of I-80, campus is nestled in the historic town of Lock Haven, where tree-lined streets and beautiful Victorian homes border campus, and restaurants and shops are just a few blocks away. LHU's branch campus, Clearfield campus is located between exits 120 and 123 off of I-80 in the beautiful town of Clearfield, Pa.

We are proud of our graduates.  Since 1870 Lock Haven University has graduated some of the most talented alumni in the world.  We have over 32,000 alumni and LHU is represented in every state across the U.S. Once you attend LHU, a part of you never truly leaves.  Whether it be days, months, or years, you are always welcome back home to The Haven.
