Students at Grier participate in a variety of performing arts that includes Music, Musical Theatre, Dramatic Arts, and Dance. The instructors at Grier are top-notch and our facilities include a Dance Building, Instrumental Music Building, a Vocal Music Suite, Auditorium, several sound-insulated practice rooms, instrument and costume storage.
Dance is one of the most popular programs at Grier School—and justifiably so. Nearly half of all students take dance classes at the beginner, intermediate, and pre-professional levels in styles including ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, tap, and hip hop. Regardless of the level, dancers at Grier learn from our talented faculty and guest artists and enjoy outstanding facilities. Students perform four new shows each year and attend special events such as the annual Grier School Dance Gala, choreography showcases, and national dance conventions.
Grier offers an abundance of studio art classes taught by practicing artists and designed around the Elements and Principles of Design. Art classes are available to students at all ability levels. Serious artists will experience higher level courses where they further develop artistic techniques and learn to manage multiple deadlines within a nurturing environment. Students applying to top art schools work closely with their portfolio teacher and the college counselor to ensure a positive critique and favorable admissions.
