This course gives students a solid grounding in aerospace engineering. They will learn how to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of engineering disciplines. After a year of core study, students will choose either the avionic systems or aeromechanics stream. In their final year, they will work on a research project led by one of the world leading academics at the university.
The modules cover aero propulsion, aerodynamic design, aircraft dynamics and control, computational aerodynamics and project management. The study includes some experience of flight instrumentation and an individual investigative project of students’ choice. All students also take the Global Engineering Challenge, where teams of students work to solve engineering problems in developing countries. This is designed to develop them as a professional engineer and enhance their career prospects.
