MS in Applied Mathematics program will provide a background in the fundamental tools of applied mathematics, including ordinary and partial differential equations, asymptotics and perturbation methods, numerical analysis and scientific computing. Research projects are available on topics ranging from fluid dynamics, compressive sensing, coronal mass explosions, mathematical finance, mathematical biology, nonlinear waves, solar science, and optical imaging of tissues.
The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students who plan to end their formal education with a bachelor's degree as well as those who wish to go on for an advanced degree. The UC Merced chemistry B.S. graduate is well prepared to pursue a career in chemistry or an allied field. We offer both a basic chemistry program and three emphasis tracks in biological chemistry, environmental chemistry, and materials chemistry, which allow students to pursue interdisciplinary areas within a degree program that is still focused on chemistry.
Biological Sciences, B.S. program teaches biology as a multidisciplinary science, reflecting the increasing role of chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and advanced technologies in the life sciences. There are five emphasis tracks in the biological sciences: Molecular and Cell Biology, Human Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Developmental Biology, and Microbiology and Immunology.
